What are 5 things you should invest in to make it in acting?

Just like it is with all the other careers, the acting career is also a business and requires some initial investment for it to turn into a success. However, not all investments are profitable. What’s worse is that some might even leave you in worse situations than you were before. This is why we need to consider all our options and choose the ones that are best for us.

When it comes to acting, here are 5 things that every actor should invest in if he wants to have a successful and satisfying career;

  • Headshots

Actors, everywhere, are well aware of the importance of headshots. They are your first impression of any casting director. The issue is that with technology being as advanced as ever and everyone is good with a camera, most of the actors try to save money by asking one of their friends to take some good pictures of them with their mobile phone and then use them as the headshot. Do not make this mistake.

You don’t even need to hire an expensive one, just make sure that you get this job done by a professional headshot photographer. There is a reason that they are called that as this is something that not everyone can be good at. Being comfortable and good with a camera, and being a professional headshot photographer are two completely separate things and should be taken so.

  • Acting Classes

Acting might be one of those skills that are born or get better with practice but there are still some things that you need to learn that the previous two cannot give you. Hence, no matter how good of an actor you might think you are, try to enroll yourself in some really good acting classes. These will teach you the tricks, and insights about what makes a good actor that you will never get familiar with otherwise.

  • Audition Coaching

Going to auditions without coaching might not be a big deal when it comes to small roles but doing so with nig and major roles is not suggested. Just like you need to learn how to ace a job interview, you also need some help with how to give a good audition. Therefore, investing in a good and trusted audition coach is highly important and something that every actor needs to do at some point in their career.

  • Workshops

Workshops are a great way to get to know the directors and make your contacts. However, make sure that the one you are attending is also relevant to the type of roles that you want to do. For example, you do not want to attend a workshop by the casting director of “Marvel Studios “if you are looking for roles in the drama.

  • Gear Up

With multiple platforms these days allowing you to create and share your content, it is always a good idea to have something going on the side. So, invest in some initial acting and camera gear so that you can work on creating opportunities rather than searching for them.
