Stay at home! Yes, this is the big announcement of year 2020. To slow down spreading of coronavirus many countries issued social distancing and lockdown orders. The major problem that occurred due to this quarantine is that many social clubs, restaurants and outdoor activities got affected. Another issue that has arisen is that people have gotten into unhealthy habits that have further deteriorated their health as well.
If you are looking to get back on track here are some of the healthy habits that you should adopt for your wellness.
Quarantine Fitness
Staying indoor can mean that you have nothing to do all day. If you are working from home, you should take some time out for stretching. It will boost your mind, help you relax and improve your work output.
Staying at home does not mean that you cannot do any physical exercise. There are many ways to be active. For example, you can go on hiking, long walks and jogging. Mere 25 to 40 minutes of physical activity in a day can do wonders for you. You do not need a fancy gym to workout either. You can work out without complicated equipment. A simple aerobics workout can help you improve your spirits, heart health and general fitness.
If you are parents, it is likely that your kids are also staying at home. Imagine being a kid and having to sit all day at home. Isn’t that boring? One thing that might help is engaging your children in playful sports or fun activities that can be done in your backdoor garden. Install a hoop or a slide. Have swimming races with your children. Not only it will keep them occupied, but also help them stay active.
Quarantine Food
Smart eating is the key to survive this phase. We know it is not easy to shop for groceries at such a time. Aisles are empty and limited options are available to buy healthy stuff. But smarter you will shop right now, better you will survive this pandemic. Try and buy healthier food options, organic and wholesome food.
Sitting at home and not being physically active can lead you to gain weight. Your best bet is to buy whole grains, a lot of vegetables and fresh fruits. Try your hand at new recipes every day. This will make this time fun for your family and for you. Avoid fizzy and carbonated drinks. This might be the time to finally start eating right.
How can we forget our little champs, when it comes to food. Most of the kids love to eat high sugar items like chocolates, sweets, etc. Sugar is not so good for children. To help them eat well, you can experiment with food and make it more colorful. Better yet, ask your children to help you with baking and making new dishes. It will help them develop a new skill, while keeping them engaged.
Quarantine Meditation
Peace of mind is one of the greatest blessings one can ask for at this time. Simple meditation can help reduce stress levels, calm your mood and improve anxiety levels. You can try yoga and other meditation techniques that will help you relax in no time.
