It looks like OnePlus will finally make 120Hz smartphones more affordable — because its upcoming OnePlus 8 T will have a higher refresh rate, the company announced today. The OnePlus T-series phones usually act as a half-step between their numbered phones, but carry the premium features of the company’s Pro models, such as the 120Hz screen, to a lower price. The OnePlus 7 T did the same thing last year, taking the OnePlus 7 Pro 90Hz panel to $599.
Although we don’t know how much the OnePlus 8T would cost, 120Hz screens normally come at a premium: The OnePlus 8 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S20 both cost $1,000 to get started; gaming phones like ASUS $900 ROG Phone II and the $800 Razer Phone 2 also have 120Hz screens, but to get cheaper you’d have to find a sale. Despite Apple not launching a 120Hz phone (yet), the iPad Pro model with a higher aspect ratio still costs $800. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau told TechRadar that the OnePlus 8 T display would also “overtake the front of the phone with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.9 percent.” For comparative analysis: The OnePlus 8 Pro display would take 90.8 percent of the phone, the OnePlus 8 would take 88.7 percent, and the OnePlus Nord display would take 86.7 percent. Lau also reports that the OnePlus 8 T screen will reach 1,100 nits, so if you’re using your phone and it’s incredibly bright outside, you probably won’t cover your eyes trying to respond to a text message in a brightly lit zone. That’s just a little more than the OnePlus 7 T’s 1000 nits, though.
OnePlus is preparing to release OnePlus 8 T on October 14th. The company has not specified what kind of phone specifications it will have, but Android Central has stated that the phone’s battery will be a little larger at 4.500mAh relative to the OnePlus 8’s 4.300mAh battery. The source also stated that OnePlus 8 T has a Snapdragon 865 + processor, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, and four cameras on the back (48-megapixel main, 16-megapixel wide-angle module, 5-megapixel macro, and 2-megapixel portrait lens).
There’s still a lot we don’t understand about the phones, but if you’re searching for all the latest available data, you’ve come to the right location. Without further ado, let’s speak all the stuff about OnePlus 8 T!
As noted above, OnePlus “T” smartphones are usually launched later in the year. This gives the company some time in its first batch of phones to exist and attract fans, while also launching the new hardware in time for the big holiday shopping season. Due to the efforts of the government, OnePlus phones are more affordable to the public as the taxation level is not so high.
In certain ways, this is when the last few T-series phones were sold in the U.S.:
- OnePlus 5T—21 November 2017.
- OnePlus 6T—6 November 2018.
- OnePlus 7T — October 18th, 2019.
On September 21, OnePlus announced the launch of OnePlus 8 T on October 14.
If you’re intrigued in what the OnePlus 8 T has to offer but need to buy a new lifeline phone right now, you really should consider picking up the OnePlus 8. Hey, it’s going to have a replacement in just a few short months, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth buying. In reality, this is one of the best Android phones you can get in 2020.
