During the holiday season, toy drives are set up in various places all over the country. And there is no doubt that there is a lot of hard work, thinking, and effort that goes into the process of setting up a toy drive, but it all seems worth it when you see their impact on the lives of people. Toy drives are important, and not only on holidays but at any other time of the year as well. And although everyone is well aware of the purpose of toy drives and there are not a lot of questions about why they are important, still here are some of the reasons that further inform us on why we need toy drives;

–         Instill the importance of charity in children from an early stage

Kindness, generosity, empathy, and helping other people, privileged or not, are one of the greatest values that you can teach a child. These values and behavior help you wherever you go. And toy drives are one of the best ways to instill these values in them.

We all know how important toys are to children. To them, they are not just toys, they are their friends and companions, to whom they feel like they can share everything. So, when a child donates their toys, they are giving away the most important part of life. And this teaches them the lesson of sharing and giving back. That they should always help the ones less privileged than them.

But what most people do not know is that they also play a huge role in a child’s development. They teach them imagination and creativity. One of the most obvious benefits of toy drives is that they help us in protecting and saving the environment.  When children donate their old toys or toys that they do not use as often, instead of just throwing them away, they reduce a lot of waste.

This also teaches children to take care of their environment and be conscious of their actions that affect it in bad ways from an early age.

–         Helps the underprivileged children

The most important benefit of toy drives and the main purpose of them; to help the underprivileged children. There are many children in our communities whose parents cannot afford to buy them toys, or maybe they somehow manage to but only the ones from the dollar store.

So, it is important to recognize these children and help them, and hence the purpose of toy drives. These toy drives make these underprivileged children feel equal to the ones who have the latest toys and not feel inferior to them.

Also, some toys, like stuffed animals, become a source of comfort for children going through tough times.
