The Chicago Auto show has been the biggest in the entirety of North America since it was first staged in March 1901. From that moment on, it has become the biggest platform in the continent for car enthusiasts. Every year, car fanatics from every corner of the world gather in the Chicago McCormick Place Convention Center and geek over the latest car models, prototypes of what cars might look in the future, as well as the antique cars of the past. This gathering also serves as a huge opportunity for car dealers to come and secure the best deals as there is no other place in the world where they will be able to find such devoted customers for cars.
This year marked the 112th installment of the show. The event lasted for 2 weeks, starting from February 8th till February 17th and displayed almost 1000 vehicles. Along with new models, prototypes, and vintage cars, there were also some redesigns of the existing models. And while we hope that each of these 1000 vehicles left the viewers completely amazed, there are some exceptions that everyone couldn’t stop talking about. The top 5 cars at the 2020 Chicago Show, that have kept everyone on their toes, are
- 2020 Mercedes-Benz Weekender Camper Van
Yes, Mercedes-Benz just launched a camper van; Mercedes Metris Weekender. And although not as luxurious as the Marco Polo camper van, the Weekender is enough for a squad of 4 people and also has a pullout kitchen.
- 1-Million-Mile 2007 Nissan Frontier
Owned by Brian Murphy, this 2007 Nissan Frontier is no ordinary pickup truck. Since Murphy bought it in 2007, he has managed to travel 1 million miles on this. What’s interesting is the vehicles condition. Even after 13 years and being driven around for 1000,000 miles, the pick-up truck is in brand new condition with Murphy saying that it has required only minimal repairs since 2007 and he changes the oil after every 10,000 miles. Nissan, known for promoting its vehicles for being long-lasting and tough, used this as a marketing opportunity and considering the roads of Chicago, it sure is remarkable that the pickup truck is in such good condition.
- 2020 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid
The 2020 Hyundai Sonata comes with a roof that has solar panels. These panels are said to increase your electric-assisted driving by 3 miles daily. And although Sonata’s delivery range is 54 miles per gallon, the same as Toyota Camry but the former has a more modern design.
- 2021 Chrysler Pacifica
There is no doubt that nobody does minivans the way Chrysler does, but there has always been one problem with their minivans. They either come with Stow ‘N Go or AWD, never both. Well, turns out Chrysler found a way to give its customers everything that they want. Through Pacifica, Chrysler is bringing back AWD without having to comprise on the seating system and people couldn’t be more satisfied.
- Genesis GV80
The new GV80 SUV has been on everyone’s mind since it’s Super Bowl commercial. And the 2020 Chicago Auto show was the first time it was displayed for the public. Everyone who is even slightly interested in cars knows that Genesis is a luxury car brand and GV80 is their first SUV, so it’s no wonder that people were impatient to witness this beauty.
